Officially known as the Republic of the Philippines, the country is located in Southeast Asia in the Western Pacific Ocean. Located in the region which exotically referred to as the Pacific ring of fire, the Philippines is a country comprising of 7107 islands, some of which are too small to be habitable. The location and the tropical weather of the country makes it prone to typhoons and earthquakes, however at the same time the environment has made the country into an exotic mass of geographical beauty.
The Philippines has a local population of about 94 Million making it the 12th most populous nation in the world with another estimated 11 Million Filipinos living abroad. The country is a diverse melting pot of many different societies including Malay, Hindu and Muslims. The country is considered to be the 46th largest economy in the world with major exports ranging from semi-conductors to garments to petroleum products. Because of its fascinating beaches, exotic islands, beautiful landscapes and a remarkably hospitable culture, the county is also a great spot for vacationing and tourist.
The Philippines is a growing economy with a rapid rate of modernization, a literacy rate of above 90% and tremendous potential for success. In light of these feats, the country also has a sophisticated cellular phone industry and a very high concentration of users with a subscription rate of above 70 Million in 2010. It was also estimated that Filipinos send out more than 1 Billion text messages every day.
